Henk Borgdorff

Professor of Research in the Arts at the University of the Arts, The Hague (The Netherlands) and Visiting Professor of Aesthetics at the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts of the University of Gothenburg (Sweden). Editor of the Journal for Artistic Research and co-founder of the Society for Artistic Research. Project leader of ‘The Artistic Research Catalogue’, an international project to develop a digital repository for the exposition of artistic research work. Chair of the working group on ‘Validation’ of SHARE – academic network, Erasmus/ELIA. Chair of the International Quality Board of the ‘Konstnärliga forskarskolan’ (the national school for artistic research in Sweden). Member of Strategic Working Group on Research of the HBO-raad (The Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences). Former Secretary of the board of the Dutch Association of Aesthetics. Founding editor of Dutch Journal of Music Theory. Honorary member of the Dutch-Flemish Society for Music Theory. Reviewer for several funding agencies and research councils in Europe. His teaching and research concerns the theoretical and political rationale of ‘artistic research’.
