Expanding the EUFRAD European Forum for Research Degrees in Art & Design
Coordinator: Klaus Jung (Academy of Media Arts Cologne)
This work package brings together individual (or teams of) artist-researchers/doctoral students and supervisors from across Europe and from schools in all stages of development. The work package ensures that individual artist-researchers active in arts research as well as supervisors have access to the Academic Network. Artist-researchers and supervisors from all partner and other institutions can join the network.
The sub-network exchanges experience and supports European research collaboration in different disciplines and thematic areas, helping emerging researchers to exchange their findings and methodologies and to foster innovation and on all levels relevant to the arts and its influence on society, in all unpredictability of arts research.
Supervisors involved in the sub-network will set up a peer-reviewed register of qualified and experienced 3rd cycle supervisors across Europe with a view to international mobility of supervisors, which may develop in a separate sub-network.
The work package facilitates three partners’ meetings and the preparation of a peer-reviewed online ‘competition’, selecting 8 promising artist researchers to exhibit, present and/or perform their research work at the ELIA Biennial Conference in October 2012 in Vienna. The work package also includes a Dissemination Symposium in Vienna reporting on the work of the sub-network to a large audience of artist-researchers, supervisors and educational and management staff and discussing findings and methodologies in relation to the shown research projects.
